The black Samsung SGH-D820 is an elegant, sleek slider phone with internal antenna. The display is large (32 x 42 mm). Looks smart and you can accept the incoming call while it is closed. Sliding it to open is little difficult until you get into the practice. Once open the keypad and various functions are easy to access. 

D820 has 1.3-megapixel camera, a video & voice recorder and music player. It's internal memory  is 73 MB. It can store up to 60 minutes of video and a hour's recording of a voice memo. This capacity can be increased using an external microSD memory card if required. The File manager classifies and saves data, pictures and videos separately which can be then retrieved, quickly and easily.  

For the camera you can set image size, quality, color balance, exposure before shooting. It has a night mode too. You can also select different capture modes like multi shot, single shot and mosaic. This mosaic implies that multiple shots can be taken and saved in a single frame enabling some interesting outputs. It also has a rotating lens that is effective for taking shots from different angles. There is a fine collection frames with birthday, Christmas and general themes as well as emoticons and clip art that you can use to frame your captured photos. There is also an image editor to manipulate the quality of images after they have been taken. 

The video recorder also gives high quality picture for a mobile phone. It handled different light conditions well.

Predictive text messaging is convenient. This phone allows the user to send multimedia and e-mail. The phone also offers a calendar, clock, world clock, timer and stopwatch which are all easy to use. The clock only displays in 12 hour format.

The sound quality of the D820's music player is good.  There are several ways to download music files (MP3 and AAC), through memory card, via Bluetooth or through inbuilt Web browser application. The downloaded music files can be set up as ringtones, or select a file as a ringtone for a specific phonebook entry. The microphone in the D820 is of a high quality ensuring a decent voice recorder which is also easy to set up. While recording, the recorder can be paused and resumed and it includes fast forward, rewind, volume and playback options.

The phone offers various options  for data transfer to other devices. The Bluetooth capability on the phone is very easy to set up and you can quickly transfer phone book details, images and other data to other Bluetooth enabled devices. The D820's display can be output for viewing on a TV to share videos and photos captured through the phone. Also he data can be transferred to a memory card and read via a card reader on a PC.
