Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini

After the X10 and XPERIA Pureness from the XPERIA range, Sony
Ericsson has launched XPERIA X10 mini which is unbelievably small
and light. Although the size is compensated by a tad more thickness
as compared to the smart phones these days, it is still pretty
attractive. However the small phone packs plenty of features and is
much more affordable than the rest of the phones in the X10 range.
Interface The Sony Ericsson X10 mini uses version 1.6 of the Android platform and the screen although small considering it’s a touch phone, has been utilized rather cleverly. Sony Ericsson has added more screen panels instead of limiting all the icons to a small space. On the four corners of the screen are icons to get to message composer, music player, phonebook and dial pad/call log. One of the best things about this phone is that new home screen panels can be added whenever you add a new widget. There is also a thin bar at the top which tells you about battery, missed calls, signal strengths etc. which can be pulled down to show the details of the notifications. There are only three buttons on the front, so the screen dominates the usage as an input option.
Calls and Messaging Calls can be answered by a simple finger slide to the left and the earpiece has decent clarity. The loudspeaker however, is not too impressive. Like all Sony Ericsson phones, the phonebook virtually has unlimited capacity. New message can be typed by pressing the corner icon for message composer which opens a simple touch keypad. A few slides can get numbers and symbols. But, the limited input options do make messaging a slow process. SMS becomes MMS when a media file is attached to the SMS, which is pretty convenient. Messages are arranged in the form of threads, making it easier to read conversations.

Connectivity and Memory
Connectivity on X10 mini is impressive with quad band GSM/ GPRS/EDGE for worldwide roaming with dual or tri band 3G with HSPA. One jarring omission is that the Bluetooth does not support transfer of files. However, Wi-Fi and A2DP support is there. The phone has an internal memory of 128 MB that is expandable through micro SD cards of up to 16GB which will give you ample speed .A 2 GB micro SD card comes with the pack.
Music and FM radio
The music player is very convenient to use. A really neat feature is the three default play lists which are newly added, most played and never played. The sound quality and quality is great. The FM radio automatically searches the available stations and you can mark some as favorites. The stations can be changed by just scrolling up and down.
Camera and Video
The X10 mini can brag of producing great pictures with accurate color reproduction. The 5 Mega pixel camera accompanied by the LED flash (which can be turned on or off at will) can take pictures at a maximum resolution of 2592×1396 pixels. The camera also has options like auto, macro, twilight and sports shooting.
Videos can be recorded along with video lights and quality settings.
Web browser
The browser on this phone performs to the users’ satisfaction. The magnifying glass browsing mode makes browsing speedy. The zoom controls allow you to zoom and focus on the required text. YouTube application is also available.
