HTC
P3470 is an affordable GPS enabled touch screen smartphone. It runs on Windows Mobile 6
operating system. You have access to
Mobile Office where you can open MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. Internet
Explorer for browsing and Windows Live Messenger are part of the software
suit. The built-in GPS technology delivers cutting edge mobile
communications with a fully functional satellite navigation experience. To
take location based experiences to the next level, this set comes bundled
with Co-Pilot 7 navigation software and an on-board GPS chipset. The
satellite navigation capability is enhanced with the QuickGPS program to
locate and track the nearest satellites in your region. P3470 has TI OMAP
850 a 200 Mhz processor, but it performs really well even while using
demanding applications. If 128 MB RAM, 256 MB flash ROM is not
enough memory then use micro SD card slot under the battery. Windows Mobile 6
offers many desirable features like quick-launch programs, ‘Favourite
People’ for quickly dialing the frequent contacts. The HTC Audio Manager to
play your playlist and Abobe Reader to view docs. The Comm Manager
application lets you switch your phone’s Bluetooth, data connection and
ringer on and off easily. The File Manager lets you manage files on your
phone and storage card. Microsoft Messenger application is included for instant
communication. The excellent RSS Hub keeps you updated on news etc. Yahoo! Go version 2
is installed as default, and also the Windows Live and Zip for unpacking
files. |

A 2 mega pixel camera and self-portrait mirror is included
on the back, but there is no flash. There's a macro setting, which
allows photos of close-up objects to be taken simply by moving the lens. The camera button is on the right
side of the handset. The pictures are satisfactory inside and good outside.
Many settings are available like a timer, brightness control, white-balance and
zoom. The HTC Camera Album is a particularly excellent application which
operates smoothly and quickly when you're looking at a snap it will let you
spin, zoom and pan around. You can show off your pictures in the form of a
slide show too.
For Connectivity, P3470 is equipped with
standard Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and the proprietary HTC ExtUSB at the bottom which can be used for charger, hands-free headset
or data transfers.
As we said this is an affordable GPS device so there has to
be some compromises some where, and they are like - no 3G, no WiFi and a 2 mp
camera instead of 3mp or more and it does not have HTC’s TouchFlo
technology. But as always HTC device’s build quality and user oriented software interface is impressive.
