New Delhi, October 29 2008: Hughes Communications India Ltd., the world's leading provider of satellite broadband services, Managed Network Services and products for businesses, governments and consumers today announced that it has won orders to deploy 1800 satellite broadband terminals for leading banks - Bank of India (BOI), Canara Bank and Yes Bank to run their core banking solutions.
As part of the contracts, Hughes will be deploying turnkey networks which encompass system integration, satellite bandwidth and network management to connect 1200 offsite ATMs & branches for Canara Bank, 500 branches and ATMS for the Bank of India and another 100 bank branches for Yes bank.

Canara Banks’ order for 1200 sites is a follow up to their first order with Hughes, where they connected 659 sites. This will cover over 70% of their offsite ATMs & branches in Southern India. Hughes has also set up core banking leading banks like the State Bank of India, RBI, ICICI, HDFC, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Andhra bank, Corporation bank, J&K Bank, United Bank and Bank of Maharashtra etc.
The networks will be built on a Satellite based VPN technology and consist of a central NOC that is connected to the various branches/ATMs using satellite as a medium. The bank’s data centers will be connected to the central managed services NOC of Hughes using terrestrial links. Hughes will be deploying state of the art DVB-S2 based HN Series of products and other routing equipment. The DVB-S2 is the latest generation standard for transmission over satellite.
Globally too Hughes list of clients in the BFSI segment is impressive with banks like Banco do Brasil, People’s Bank of China, HSBC and ANZ. On an average over 7.5 million financial transactions globally are processed on a Hughes network every day by retailers and financial customers.
