Sony Ericsson all set to energize
the mobile phone market in India
Unveils Breakthrough
Technologies that take the next step in mobile music, imaging and 3G experiences
New Delhi, March 16, 2005:
Sony Ericsson, the pioneer in innovative and stylish mobile phone solutions,
today introduced a new range of six thrilling mobile phones for the Indian
market. With the launch of these new phones, Sony Ericsson presented revolutionary
ways for consumers to get more out their mobile experiences
by capturing, enjoying and communicating with never before seen features
and concepts in mobile phones.
With these new phones, Sony
Ericsson intends to capture a larger market share in the Indian mobile
phone industry in the year 2005. The company is confident to appeal to
the style and design conscious, yet value driven Indian consumers.
In line with the companies’
commitment for offering the ultimate consumer experience, the mobile phones
presented a host of “Firsts” of Sony Ericsson’s Mobile Communication in
India. Some of these are:

World’s first Walkman branded
Mobile Phone - The Sony Ericsson W800i
is the first Walkman branded mobile phone compatible with the industry
standard MP3 and AAC files offering a stylish multifunctional mobile phone
that doubles up as a music player and a camera. The W800i allows up to
70 hours of listening time with an expandable memory up to 4 GB and a 2
Mega pixel camera. Sony Ericsson expects music phones to be the killer
app in 2005 and expects to sell more music phones by the end of the year
than MP3 players sold by its competitors.

Sony Ericsson’s first 3G
Phones in India – The Z800i and
K600i 3G UMTS handsets are groundbreakers
in design, performance and functionality. Both the phones deliver
the full performance and possibilities of 3G networks, including high quality
video telephony, a 1.3 Mega Pixel camera and a Motion Eye™ rotating camera
in Z800i with fast download of compelling mobile content.

Sony Ericsson’s first 2-mega-pixel
camera phone - The Sony Ericsson K750i,
is a 2 Mega pixel imaging phone that captures the sharpest, clearest pictures
with superb colour reproduction for printing, sharing and viewing.

Also launched today is the
K300i, the super value camera phone
for the youth and the J300i, with personalization
features like unique style up covers and 3-D game and ring tone downloads.
Both the phones are perfect offerings for the young expressionists and
the fun-loving youth. “54 % of India's population is under 25 years of
age and comprises of consumers who are looking for a phone that is feature
packed and affordable without compromising on looks and that is exactly
what we are offering them through J300i and the K300i.” added Sudhin Mathur.
