Press Release:
Plans Afoot to Export to Other Middle East and Asian
Countries
New Delhi, 28th
March, 2006: Samsung
Electronics Co., Ltd, a leading provider of mobile phones and telecom systems today
reinforced its commitment to make India the export hub.
Company’s Manesar plant in
India, made first symbolic export of its “Made
in India” mobile phones to Dubai, which because of its strong
macroeconomics and demographic profile is the key telecom
market of Middle East.
Speaking on this occasion Mr.
H.C.Ryu, Managing Director, Samsung Telecommunications India (STI) said,
“Middle East is
one of the chief growth markets for Samsung, primarily because of lower mobile
penetration and higher ARPUs. This sector is also witnessing the wave of
liberalization making the market fiercely competitive. As the part of its
strategic decision, Samsung will export more of ‘Made in India’ mobiles to cater the demand of Middle East, thereby
increasing the company’s market share and operating profit.”
Mobiles manufactured at Samsung’s Indian plant will
not only reduce company’s market-reaction time but in the long run will also
bring down the cost of operations as the economies of scale starts
setting in.
Officially inaugurated on 7th
March 2006, the plant started its export within less than a fortnight which
clearly shows Samsung’s strategies to stranglehold its presence in the growing
Asian and Middle East Market. “With Dubai, the company will soon start exporting
to other Middle East and Asian countries,” said Mr. Ryu.
India because of its strategic locations, favorable government polices,
high skilled manpower and unabated leadership in software had off late became
the favorable hub for mobile manufacturing and exports. Samsung with its
leadership in mobile technology and style will open a new chapter of the world
telecom industry with its ‘Made in India’
handset that will showcase Indian dream and vision.
