Mumbai, November 2nd, 2006:
In a pioneering move in the Indian mobile communication space, Reliance
Communications today announced the launch of Multimedia Messaging Service

subscribers world over. With the launch of the MMS interoperability service
Reliance Mobile customers would be able to share their MMS pictures, videos
and tones with subscribers of global telecom majors like China Mobile,
China Unicom, Digi-Malaysia, Telstra – Australia and MTNL, to name a few.
Reliance is currently in discussion and also, testing interoperability
with other operators in India.
“Reliance has been
at the forefront to introduce innovative services that have redefined mobile
telephony and the way millions of customers use mobile phones”
said Mahesh Prasad, President – Application Services Group, Reliance Communications.
“There is an increasing trend in the usage of MMS and Camera Phones
among mobile customers and over 2,50,000 MMS downloads were saved or sent
from Reliance Mobile World during the recent festivals. Reliance Communications
endeavors to create a global community of MMS users of which MMS interoperability
is the first step”, he added.
This is part of Reliance’s
ongoing effort towards building an operator-neutral mobile community across
the globe. A similar such initiative was launched recently to bring mobile
blogging on Reliance Mobile World (R World) which allows subscribers to
share their photos or videos world over by wirelessly uploading the content
on a website at the click of a button. Currently Reliance Mobile customers
