New Delhi, October 21, 2005: Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications demonstrated its vision of ‘Life Goes Mobile’ by showcasing how mobility is changing the way people work, play and stay connected at the second Mobile Expo in New Delhi. Nokia is the largest exhibitor (Hall No 12 A) at the second Mobile Expo 2005 which has been organized by CII and ICA (Indian Cellular Association) between 21 – 24 October 2005 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Nokia also used this premiere Mobile Telephony exhibition to announce the launch of its second Nseries multimedia device, the N70 smartphone in India. The Nokia N70 is a compact, beautifully styled, easy-to-use 3G smartphone that provides users a complete multimedia computing experience. In keeping with its vision of Life Goes Mobile, Nokia also showcased a number of applications that it has developed to enrich the mobile experience for its customers. The new applications showcased by Nokia at this forum include a new Photo Optimizer technology that enables users to create photo studio quality images on their mobile phones.
Speaking at the event, Mr Sanjeev Sharma, Chairman, Mobile Expo and Managing Director, Nokia India said, “With mobility pervading into everyday life, mobile products and services must be intuitive and easy to use - something we refer to as human technology. When we talk about Life Going Mobile, it is all about people, and how they use mobile services to enhance their lives.”

The Nokia pavilion at Mobile Expo 2005 will provide visitors a complete mobility experience by showcasing a broad range of mobile devices, enhancements and applications across its mobile phone, multimedia and enterprise portfolios. Enthusiasts will also be able to get a first hand experience of Nokia’s vision of ‘Life Goes Mobile’ by visiting the Nokia Imaging, Music, Expression, Enterprise, Fashion and Accessory zones at the Nokia pavilion. In addition to the display pavilion, Nokia has also created a separate sales zone where customers can choose and buy mobile devices to match their individual lifestyles.
Imaging Zone
Last year approximately
215 million camera phones were sold worldwide, and this year Nokia expects
the camera phone market to outnumber the digital camera market by four
fold. At the second Mobile Expo 2005, Nokia also announced the launch of
its latest imaging device N70, the stylish new device that will incorporate
a complete smartphone feature set to deliver an unparalleled multimedia
computing experience to Indian prosumers. This latest offering from Nokia
will also have a complete range of multimedia features that includes a
2 mega pixel camera and flash and front camera for video calling. Equipped
with a digital music player and FM radio with support for Visual Radio,
the Nokia N70 also doubles as a great pocketable music device.
The imaging enthusiasts visiting the Mobile Expo will also have a chance to preview Nokia’s entire range of imaging phones at the especially designed ‘photo studio’ at the Nokia pavilion. To demonstrate progress against its intent of making ‘work goes mobile’, Nokia is also showcasing its push-to-talk email application, HutchMail Service, an affordable GPRS based solution which allows executives real-time access to their office mails.
An extension of “work goes mobile” vision, Nokia and Airtel launched BlackBerry Connect™ in India which extends BlackBerry wireless services to the Nokia 9500 Communicator, Nokia 9300 smartphone and Sony Ericsson P910i. The availability of BlackBerry services to Nokia’s high-end enterprise devices marks the convergence of two eagerly anticipated, business focused wireless products.
Music Zone
Nokia has blazed a trail
for music on mobile handsets – from personalization via ringing tones to
music consumption through integrated FM radios and MP3 support. Nokia reinforces
its association with music at Mobile Expo 2005 by showcasing two of its
upcoming music phones - Nokia 3250 and Nokia N91.
Nokia 3250 is targeted at music lovers who are passionate about listening to music while on the move. Its unique twist design makes it quick and easy to switch between the music keys, the keypad and the camera mode. The Nokia 3250 stores up to 1 GB (750 songs) of high quality music and offers 10 hours of music play. The Nokia N91 on the other hand is truly a mobile jukebox which breaks new ground when it comes to mobile music. With a 4GB hard disk, it can store up to 3000 tracks.* N91 proved worthy of its excellent music capabilities at the Mobile Expo as the entire music collection on the dance floor was played on N91.
Also showcased at the zone was Nokia 7710, a stylus based phone to provide consumers an access to a rich world of entertainment, and information with a large screen (640 x 320 pixels) with vibrant 65,536 colour display.

Expressions Zone
In line with its initiative
of expanding voice in emerging markets, Nokia has been committed to market
education and introducing relevant products and applications for different
markets. Nokia understands the specific needs of Indian consumers and has
been instrumental in expanding mobility to Indian masses with products
such as Nokia 1100 and campaigns such as Made for India, Har Jeb Mein Rang
and Saral Mobile Sandesh.
Offering more choice for first-time buyers, Nokia showcased two of its latest entry phones – Nokia 1110 (black & white display) and Nokia 1600 (coloured display). Building on Nokia’s customer centric innovation, both these handsets distinguish themselves with a Talking Alarm and Clock in five regional languages including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati.
Fashion Zone
Nokia recently launched
the Nokia 8800 for connoisseurs of quality and taste. The first
product by Nokia with a scratch-resistant screen, Nokia 8800 displayed
its Zen-link goal to balance form and functionality at the second Mobile
Expo 2005. Encased in a slim stainless steel body, the Nokia 8800 subtly
glides open to reveal a number of distinctive details, each meticulously
considered and researched to complement the prestige and quality of the
device. Nokia also showcased Nokia 7610, Nokia 7260 and Nokia
7280.
Accessories Zone
To promote responsible use
to technology, Nokia also announced its ‘handsfree driving’
campaign to prevent driving mishaps. Nokia’s car enhancements give a range
of range from complete car kits, to car kit phones, mobile chargers, plug-in
solutions, holders, microphones, antenna couplers to privacy handsets.
As part of this initiative, Nokia has tied up with Hyundai to provide their
customers with Nokia’s Bluetooth car accessory kit.
