Nokia handsets are renowned for their ease of use and the Nokia 1110 and Nokia 1600 phones continue this tradition with a new intuitive user interface that makes full use of graphical icons and large font sizes and the built-in handsfree speaker. The Nokia 1110 has an inverted black and white display whereas the Nokia 1600 has a 65,536 colour display. With the new menu structure, accessing basic features, such as managing calls and contacts become much easier. Detailing the rationale behind the Jaago India Jaago advertising campaign, Mr. Sharma said " Indians are extremely proud of how the country has been progressing. The advertising campaign therefore uses the 'Talking Alarm' functionality of the Nokia 1110 and 1600 as a metaphor to convey how more and more Indians were waking up to mobility through Nokia handsets and participating in the progress."

Both the Nokia 1110 and
Nokia 1600 also feature a "Demo Mode", an on-screen visual guide of primary
functions for first time mobile phone users. The demo guide also allows
consumers to play the pre-installed games or hear the Talking Clock without
a SIM card inserted into the phone. Both these handsets also offer much
longer talk time than the current entry phones. Nokia 1110 has
a talk time of up to 5 hrs 20 mins while the Nokia 1600 has a talk time
of up to 5 hrs 30 mins and a standby time of up to 450 hours.
Nokia 1110 and Nokia 1600 phones have excellent voice quality and coverage based on state-of-the-art radio software. The new technology enables operators to add voice capacity within their networks smoothly and cost-efficiently while improving network capacity and call quality. Weighing 80 grams, the available colors for the standard sales packages for the Nokia 1110 are Cobalt Blue, Light Grey and Dark Brown. Weighing 85 grams, the available colours for the Nokia 1600 are Black, White, and Light Silver.
