New Delhi, July 05, 2006: IDEA Cellular, an Aditya Birla Group Company and India's leading cellular operator today announced its achievement of crossing the 2-million customer mark in Maharashtra & Goa. With this, Idea becomes the first mobile operator to complete this milestone in the Circle. The journey to the 2 million landmark retains IDEA Maharashtra & Goa place as the leader.
Idea's commitment to Maharashtra & Goa is amply evident over the years, as it has expanded its robust state-of-the art network and world-class customer service to connect all of Maharashtra & Goa Circle. Maharashtra has achieved this unique distinction through increased subscriptions, in both the pre-paid and post-paid segments, which have been growing consistently in all clusters of upcountry locations that are extensively covered with IDEA's well-entrenched network.
The company plans to increase BTS to 1700, BSC to 18 and add more than 300 towns & villages and extend seamless highway coverage to over 4000kms for all national highways as well as state highways and will continue to offer the best network experience to it's customers.
