Company Press Release:

Enhanced data services now available to IDEA Cellular subscribers

Nokia Siemens Networks implements device management for improved GPRS connectivity

in nine new circles* across the country

Delhi, India- November 13, 2009

Mobile operator IDEA Cellular now offers enhanced data services and improved internet connectivity to its subscribers across 20 operating circles. The operator has deployed Nokia Siemens Networks’ Device Management to ensure seamless GPRS services in these circles.

Nokia Siemens Networks‘ Device Management provides a better experience for subscribers by automatically correcting errors and automating the provision of specific services. With its remote lock and wipe capabilities, it also increases device and data security for IDEA Cellular subscribers. Device Management also provides real-time customer insights to the operator for rollout of customized services.

“More and more people are using their mobile phones, rather than computers, to surf the Web. So it’s important that our subscribers enjoy seamless data services so that they can always stay connected,” said Anil Tandan, Chief Technology Officer, IDEA Cellular. “Nokia Siemens Networks' Device Management solution and consulting services help us achieve this, while reducing costs.”

“Data services provide a big business opportunity to operators, especially in a market like India where the average revenues per user (ARPUs) are among the lowest in the world,” said Urs Pennanen, Head of India region, Nokia Siemens Networks. “Therefore, it’s not only important that they provide a faster access to data services but also introduce new services according to customer preferences.”

Nokia Siemens Networks provided pragmatic and vendor-agnostic consulting services to IDEA Cellular to help it better understand the capabilities of new services and business opportunities. Nokia Siemens Networks Services team seamlessly integrated the Device Management into IDEA Cellular’s network, while managing new processes, business models, technologies, systems and devices effectively.
