RF to Baseband Signal Conversion in 3G Base Stations
Bangalore (Sept. 21,
2007) – Expanding its broad portfolio of analog and digital signal processing
products for wireless infrastructure base station manufacturers, Texas
Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today introduced a new monolithic, high-linearity
quadrature demodulator for direct down conversion applications. The
new device reduces the component count of the receive signal chain in 3G
base stations by at least 75 percent, compared to superheterodyne architectures.
The TRF3710 demodulator improves the RF receive signal chain by integrating
all the devices required to go directly from RF to baseband onto one chip.
With the addition of this device, TI now offers a more complete analog
signal chain for wireless infrastructure. more...

All India mobile phone
subscribers' figure reaches 19.69 Cr.
According to the latest
figures released by COAI and AUSPI, the all
India mobile phone subscribers' figure reaches 19,69,43,207 out of
which 14,77,02,024 are GSM connections while 4,92,41,183 are CDMA connections.
Interestingly the growth rate of both GSM and CDMA services last month
was 4.2%. The entry of Vodafone is expected to bring in a lot more dynamism
in the coming months in this already very competetive market.

2007 –BT today announced the increase of connecting points (nodes) for
its multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) infrastructure, which is the
basis for high quality video and voice services over the internet, bringing
the number to 14 in India. Six cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore,
Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune will have multiple nodes plus an additional

Motion has been selected by India's Number One Service Provider, Airtel,
to deploy 'Voice SMS' over fixed line. This deployment means that
Airtel customers will be able to send Voice SMS messages to any mobile
- and soon they will also be able to send messages to other Airtel Fixed
Line customers.
To use the service, the customer
dials * followed by the mobile number of the customer they wish to send
the Voice SMS to. The recipient then receives an SMS alert on his
mobile phone, notifying them that they have a new Bubble message.
The recipient then retrieves the Voice SMS by dialing *0* from their mobile.

Telecommunications Reports Second Quarter Results
The
Telecommunication Network Business posted an operating profit of 350 billion
won on revenue of 4.50 trillion won. On a consolidated basis, operating
margins show a steady performance of 500 billion won. Robust sales of premium
handsets, including the "Ultra Edition," and a solid performance in emerging
markets helped boost sales to a record of 37.4 million units for a single

the launch of GPS based Navigation Application on Mobile handsets in collaboration
with Wayfinder Systems AB of Sweden. The application turns the compatible
mobile phone into a complete GPS-based navigation system with detailed
maps and Points-of-Interest of a number of cities in India. The navigation
system provides all users with continuously updated, real-time content
