After still photography
using a camera phone, it is the video recording feature of cellular phones
that is catching the users' fantasy. Many top of the line cellular phones
boast of their video playing and video recording capabilities. These models
are with integrated digital camera and video recorder with digital zoom.
They are capable of recording 4 min to 1 hr of video clips. The formats
supported are RealVideo, MPEG4 and H.263. Feature of 3GPP video streaming
and video capture is also available.
Most of these cellular phones have large 65K color displays. Video recorders with 2x to 6x variable digital zoom are available. They support QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) and sub QCIF (128 x 96 pixels) sizes. Cellular phones with larger display, better resolution cameras and bigger memory are prefered. Most of these handsets can be connected to the PCs using blue tooth (wireless ) or data cable where one can edit the captured video clips and can share the same with friends, colleagues etc. |
